5th International Congress on Ambiances: Sensory Explorations: Ambiances in a changing world

In 2024, the 5th Congress of the International Ambiances network will take place from October 8th to 11th and will simultaneously gather researchers, academics, practitioners and artists in two cities located in different countries and different continents: Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) and Lisbon (Lusófona University).

Since its inaugural edition, the International Congress on Ambiances consistently emphasized the significance of research focused on the sensory experience of places, while also fostering the development of new multidisciplinary methodologies and innovative approaches to designing, shaping and practicing built environment.

In its fifth quadrennial congress, the objective is to outline the state of new questions and conceptual, methodological, and practical issues and adaptations in relation to architectural, urban and landscape ambiances.
