Architecture and Urbanism for a Systemic Future: the “experimental exercise of freedom” through an international and multidisciplinary extension course

Abstract:

Since 2012, the extension course “Architecture, Subjectivity and Culture” has addressed issues related to qualitative research in architecture and urbanism through transdisciplinary concepts that support differentiated methodologies aimed at practice, research and teaching. In the 2021 edition, the search for the democratization of knowledge produced within the scope of UFRJ and research partner university institutions, inside and outside Brazil, stimulated the sharing of new research methods, gaining relevance as it contributed to founding new epistemological paradigms , through the “experimental exercise of freedom” provoked in the participants. Explaining this process and the intellectual and social impact arising from this experience is the goal of this thematic panel.
